No brakes M813

So just to update the brakes have been replaced . Diff inspected and new seals and axles installed new airpack master cylinder . Brake switch from what I can tell it was the airpack that had failed .

I have just read all of the above comments. I have the same problem with empty master cylinder and no sign of fluid leak. just filled the m/cyl and activated the brake pedal by hand with reservoir cap off. After the air bubbles subsided the fluid in the m/cyl turned dark gray and feels abit gritty. should I continue to bleed brakes with the T3401 pressure bleeder to see if the fluid clears up? Anyone have an opinion on where the discolored brake fluid is coming from?

Its possible the brake fluid is contaminated from a previous owner. You need to find the source of your leak weather its into your airpack or one of your wheel cylinders.

thanks for the reply. 'have had to halt work on the M 813 brakes for awhile . waiting for parts to replace water pump and on arrival will put on new power steering pump; new radiator;new water pump then start the truck to see where I am with the brakes. I have cleaned the entire brake system taking all of the lines loose from the wheel cylinders blowing air through the system purging all old fluid. installed new wheel cylinders on all wheels and reconnected the lines. Filled the system with DOT 5.

The other possibility is its leaking into the airpack. For a few extra dollars if you havent already buy the brake fluid reservoir so you can eyeball your level without having to pop the cap all the time .I found mine on ebay .

I agree that the reservoir that is sold on line that mounts on the fire wall is very useful. I have put one on the 813 and on my M 109.. the M 813 5T now has good brake pedal after replacing the air pack , master cylinder and all new wheel cylinders and shoes adjusted per TM -24. I filled the system with Dot 5, BUT I am not getting the air release noise from the air-pack that should occur when the truck is put in reverse or when the brakes are released after downward pressure. I also rebuilt the cylinder assy on the transfer case. air vent on transfer case is in tact. Air vent from the trans poppet valve is clear with new line going from the poppet valve to eng. cpt. fire wall as it was from factory. If any one has any advice on how to get the air release working please let me know.
