Mechanic called tonight and told me there is crack on the extension transfer case from TC to rear hub. Does not know whether I should have it welded or try to replace the entire TC. Any suggestions? comments? I have come along way with this and the weather is turning bad so I am really getting anxious to get it out and drive it.

You shouldn't have a problem getting a good used transfer case for $100 or less. If you are swapping, than I would go tcase. If you are paying someone, than I would have the "extension" replaced.

i would say hes right.. 208s are common. i have them all over the place
