Well one more post :) There are 22 WW2 Vets that usually ride a float that we just found out has some trouble and will not make the parade !!!! Anyone think they might make the parade with a vehicle easy to load older Vets in ?? If so you are needed. Jeeps etc. weapons carriers ? things lower to the ground than deuces and 5 tons. are whats needed :)))

We have that same problem here every year. I've even put a pallet on the forklift and lifted them to the truck and out of it!![thumbzup]

That's using the resources :)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also have been doing this for awhile, Helping older vets up the boarding ladders, Holding there hands and >>Holding there shaky feet as they take each step !! Some say " OK LETS DO IT " and start climbing, You know you have to let em and just hold em and pray they make it :) Its a rewarding experience. 15 years ago my truck was full of WW2 Vets at most parades we do. know there are almost none. God Bless each and every one of them !!!! And all of us who do so much to help them keep there Honor !!!! Parades do so much, its worth supporting as many as we can !!!! This Nation needs these guys out there spreading the word of who they are and all they have done for us ... GREAT JOB Papabear and Thank YOU !!!!

What is the in route and in parade communication plan? Do we have enough HAMs in the club or will we have to use FSRS/GMRS frequencies?

I plan on having a radio rig setup in my truck for this event on the UHF/VHF ham bands.

With all due respect....

Will a moderator with the permissions PLEASE correct the title of this thread? "Veterans Day" in both misspelled and not capitalized. (and Nyc is more accurately "NYC") If we are indeed posting about an event to salute our veterans, let's at least get the repsect part right.

Thank you.

Saluting ALL who have served.

I didn't read this thread but if it hasn't been mentioned ISIS has a connection to 11/11. Please celebrate with your guard up, the AT officer didn't brief us for nothing.

So I went to change out the shocks on my M35A3 prior to the parade with ones I ordered years ago. Come to find out I ordered ones for the M35A2... So anybody coming to the parade want the pair of OEM shocks for a great low price of 20 bucks?

As far as the threat level, I can say the reason I have left it to the professional's, is because we were asked to do that by the professional's that briefed our meetings. It is asked we support this parade as we would every other year and move forward and NOT be persuaded by such threats, As we will over come them. Every year the security of this parade is the best of the best by the best of the best. lets leave it to them like they asked us to. If anyone has any concerns of such things they should make the decision not to come. I for one will not be persuaded or stopped or get caught up in exactly what they want us to do, Be consumed by there threats. I understand and appreciate the warning, but am asking we do not fill this thread with what , could happen or might happen . I also understand the MTA and SS that are attending this parade in our detail are fully aware of what's around them and what they can and cant handle . The drivers meeting before we pull out for the convoy and the street meeting when we park is when I will brief all on the safety concerns of what we do and how we do it, I know this is a web site of info . But this kind of stuff is really not debatable and needs to be left up to on site conversations. I can not share what I will tell those who come on this site, thank you So Much for the time to bring this up, Randy .

As for spelling, please understand I type fast and do more than I have time for, I type and run , Sorry if that offends ,I do not mean it to. If spell check does not catch something I may miss it also by simple miss typing. Anyone who wants to discuss this is welcome to ask me by PM if needed, Or just ask a moderator like above , I appreciate all the help I can get :) , I am one of the guys who reads past those who make minor mistakes because I do too. As for respect, please I hope no one would think I am disrespecting any one. I work all year in many functions as a volunteer for the Marines in Picatiny and the 250th main support battalion where I have been the treasurer since 01 and civilian unit leader off and on since 01sometimes both at the same time. . Pres of MTA since 01 to 03 then 2011 to 2015 . We are a busy club !!:):):) They are all close to full time jobs. Plus the one I need to eat . And there are others all year that directly support Soldiers who are wounded in so many ways. I am only saying this because the word, ... Disrespect hurt my feelings a little. For someone to think that I am sorry. Randy

So I was driving down Rt 3 this morning and ran into the convoy, and as I'm watching you guys drive by, I get pulled over by police for a surprise vehicle inspection. If I knew about this event , I would have joined in with my M1031. Oh well, good luck and drive safe!

Haha, that's great, that was me. He got me for not having company lettering on the side of the van because it has commercial plates.

Subject: Yesterdays Parade:smile:

Couldn't be anymore proud of my daughters today..........Yesterday I met with Art S. and rode in his 2 1/2 ton to the staging area near Clifton where we collected all the other military truckers and jeeps and a small herd of bikers.

We traveled with police escort in convoy to the Lincoln Tunnel. What a great memory to sit in the right seat of a deuce and hear the whistle of the engine. It brought back some good memories that discarded the bad ones............Traveling through the tunnel was a gas for sure.....And traveling through the traffic lights in convoy is always kind of a kick.

The long part was waiting to get into the parade route. About 4 hours.

Once enroute; it was nothing but cheers, waving US flags, people I don't know saying thankyou, and other Vets giving you the 'thumbs up' and smiling...............One Marine after another shouting 'Happy Birthday' including officers was that great 'Sempre Fi' feeling all us Marines enjoy.

Then all of a sudden the guys in my truck and the adjacent Blazer started shouting "Hey who is that?" "Traf, check it out"...................It was my daughter Becky; standing on the sidewalk with a two sided sign that said, "TRAF USMC". the other side said "Love You Dad".......She had been there since 11 in the morning waiting for me.......That stuck with me throughout the rest of the parade.

Meanwhile my daughter Kate had her classroom at school monitoring the parade to see if they in fact could see me. How great was that feeling when I found out.

Yup...............The Vets Parade in NY is something all Vets should experience.....But this one...this years parade......I couldn't be any more proud of my daughters and the memory will stick with me forever...........

God Bless my daughters................and Sempre Fi

USGRANT1865.. :) Thank you so much for sharing that !!!! Its what it is all about, We ended up with 28 MVs !!!! We covered the ww2 vets that needed a ride, and had 2 Korean era MVs meet up with the Korean group marching,

Usually the NYC , Americas Parade breaks 20,000 participants , The NYC Vets Council has a policy of never turning away a Vet or Vet group till the last second, Well maybe weather , maybe Patriotism or both , the Parade broke 25,000 !!! Participants :)

The escort was a little slower this year, the officers said it was because the Convoy was just SOO long they wanted to let the end guys keep up, they did an outstanding job once again :) Thank You SS and thank you SS members who came and supported this amazing day. it is worth every second !!26th street to 53rd street , Thank You ALL MTA members for your support also. Anyone who has not made this event yet, Put it on the calendar !!! Don't miss it next year !!!!! Thanks Randy
