Oil Analysis

I wanted to know what was going on with the motor because well... just because. I used a place called Blackstone Labs. They sent me a collection bottle and for $25 email you a report on how the motor is doing. I know if you live near a truck stop you could find it for less but for me just the drive to the truck stop would eat more than the difference in fuel costs. I know I miscalculated the mileage on the oil and it was closer to 3000 than the 2000 I told them but that just makes the results even better. I thought some might be curious about what I got back. It took about 10 days total for the turn around. Could be useful if you were looking at a truck on GL and want an idea of how the motor might be. I think when I get back at the end of this season I will send them a transmission oil sample. Tell them it is a mix of tractor fluid and motor oil, wonder what they will make of that. It is going to try and download the pdf I got from them on your computer so only click if you want that. I don't care about the name and number on the page because all that info is on our contact us page anyway.

Good report. I wish it showed TBN so you could see how the oil is protecting against the accumulation of acids in the oil.

That was an optional check box, I must have missed it because the cost would have been the same regardless. Next time. It only has about another 500 miles to go on this season then all new fluids.

This is impressive, yeah the $25 seems very reasonable, thanks for sharing.
