I have and reading up on oil pressure's for the m38a1. My pressure runs 30 to 40 pounds when first started up 20 when revved 10 - 15 at idle. The Gage runs different pressures at different times sometimes it is up to 40 and 50 pounds other times it is 20 to 30pounds at startup I'm guessing it might be an old temperamental gauge. My question is are the original findings normal when it get that close to 10 lbs at idle and 20 to 25 at 30mph.it is also 85 degrees here in calif.dont know if that makes a difference or not. Should I also use a thicker oil. I think there is 10 40 in it. Now.

10 psi at idle is a good engine, I have seen them run well with much less. If your gauge jumps around, try cleaning the back of the gauge where it contacts the gauge panel.
