This comes from reading another thread....
Why do you guys choose to use regular oil suck as 10w30 or 10w40 etc. as opposed to the 30 weight oil called for in the manual? the 30 weight is made for diesels, isn't it? That is what it states on the Rotella T1.

The military moved away from single weight oil quite a while ago. OE30 is not stocked as far as I know. OE10 is.

Most petroleum fleet oil for diesel spec is either 15w40 or 30W such as Rotella, Delo, etc. Pretty much standard weights across the board for 20 years plus for diesel. Synthetic diesel oil could have a slight diff in weight. Advantage of multi weight is faster flowing at cold temps and more protection at higher summer temps, that is why is a blend.

Most 10w30, 10w40 will not be diesel spec and will be not have the correct additive package.

The oil cap on my 6.5 GEP states 15w-40.
