Oklahoma D-Day event

With well over 10,000 visitors and attendees,
this event is one of the largest held in the NE
part of Oklahoma. I've posted about this in
the past, but haven't seen many replies, so
I thought I'd give it another shot. The site
covers close to 800 acres on which are laid
out a variety of roads and trails, ranging
from some you'd need a mountain goat to
navigate. They've also just added a new
bridge, as well as started work on several
new structures. If you'd like to display your
vehicle, drop me a note or contact the Mom
or one of the other helpful ladies who work
at the Bunker for more details.

BTW, D-Day this year runs between 9-14
June.

I also understand there's going to be a 4 X 4
event there in October as well for anyone who
is into things like that.

I haven't been to your site yet, but have you held this event previously? Are you part of some MV group or are you planning on working with other vehicle, historical, or living history groups? I am in CO and have never heard of your event. We have attened several large events in our area, including CO, WY, KS, NE, PA, etc. OK is not too much further, but your event is in the NE corner. Are you getting some interest in your event or is the cost of fuel putting a damper on the event?

This is a Paintball event..!!!!!! Not a trucking event..!

Maybe to show your truck at. But not driving around unless you want your vehicle shot up.!!!

This year marks the 11th year for this event. The
reason you probably haven't hear about or attended
it, is because it's NOT associated with any of those
groups you noted.

This event is actually what most might dub as a
paintball event. In fact, this year they expect to
have some 4,000+ participants. Besides for the
paint guns each player typically carries, both sides
are also allowed to field as mnay as 20 vehicles.
The allies for example this year plan to field at least
one and possibly as many as three WWII half tracks,
along with a number of other simulated armored
vehicles. Alll of these will be fitted with at least one
paint pellet firing weapon, some of which will look
like either a Browning 30 cal or HMG M2. Using such
weapons does two things, it makes everyone who
takes part much more aware of what happens when
they make a mistake and expose themselves and it
also gives either side a chance to win, which I'm sure
is something which the historically correct folks wouldn't
appreciate.

Here's a teaser video which the side I work for, the
Allies, has put together to help raise awreness about
this event.

What we're interested in doing is looking for period
re-enactors, as well as vehicle owners who enjoy an
opportunity to display and talk about what they have
or do before a group of folks who come to pay their
respects for those who gave us the freedom we all
enjoy today. We may not do it in a way that meets
with everyone's approval, but that doesn't make it
any less important, especially not with the way the
schools gloss over this historic event these days.

BTW, here's a brief clip of one of the tracks which is
being used by our side this year. It's owned by a guy
who aklso happens to be serving as the head of our
armored unit. As you can imagine, he'll have one
heck of a gas bill, especially seeing as it's being hauled
out there from TN.
