Found my p/S bracket had bust 2 out of three mounting ears today- I know it has to be neglect :-?.

The pulley had to be pulled, HF for a $20 kit. Worked good.

Where can I get an OEM or better bracket?

I had to leave my Blazer at my little brother's house yesterday. I looked up the part and found a nice list of 50+ applications. I was going to look in the local boneyard this morning, but jus got a call from my brother saying he welded it up already. I hope he did a good job... his model cars used to come unglued when he was little.

I installed the welded bracket this morning. All went well. Thanks for your input. Here's a couple of notes on removing the power steering pump to replace the bracket:

Remove all battery cables- you'll have to pull the alternator and you don't want any surprises.
The belt is a bugger to remove. Loosen and remove all three P/S bracket bolts (15mm) then rotate the pump and bracket to about 4 o'clock and raise it towards the centerline of the engine front to gain slack to remove the belt from the P/S pump. Reverse to replace belt.
You dont want to remove the swivel connection on the P/S pump or you'll never get it on after the pump is replaced- instead mark and remove the other two low pressure hoses held onto the pump with hose clamps. The hi pressure hose is one of three that are clamped to the master cylinder. Free it and remove the hose at that end- not at the P/S pump. Drain the P/S reservoir with a siphon. Have a pan handy and some nipple caps to stop the leaks when the hoses are pulled.

It's a good time to brush and clean and paint the P/S pump and bracket, and wipe down hard to reach hoses.

I'd keep an eye peeled for one from one of the vehicles the next time you're at the wrecking yard.

This part fits more than 50 vehicles.
