I am having trouble with the low oil pressure shutoff circuit on my generator. After running 5-10 minutes, the low pressure light comes on and the engine shuts down. Let it cool off, an it starts and runs till it warms up again. Has plenty of oil and the filter is clean. It shutting off after warming up leads me to believe it is a electrical problem. Searching this site, I found the T.O. for it, but it has no information for troubleshooting oil pressure shutoff circuit, referring the user to "higher maintenance". Can anybody help?

basically the switch closes and sends current to the big round hocky puck solenoid connected to the fuel lever linkage and pulls the fuel to the off position.

If you unplug the hockey puck it will keep running.

But I suggest confirming the oil pressure. As it warms up it thins out and you may have a real problem. If I remember the switch requires splitting the generator off the engine to get to it.

Your're right about the switch. It's jammed between the engine and generator. If I have to split it, i'll install a street ell to make servicing easier.

one other thought - if this unit has a mechanical fuel pump- check for oil for presence of fuel. Oil contaminated with fuel will result in loss of oil pressure
