Trying to find out the correct procedure for cleaning HMMWV windows both inside and out. What works and what does not. Windows have some scratches and trying to clear up the glass as best I can.
Thanks.

I guess I should have specified , the windshield and ballistic windows on the hard doors is what I am trying to clean up. Glass is older and needs proper cleaning/clearing method. I heard you should not use anything with ammonia in it.
Thanks

use whatever you want on the outside. It is glass. If they are delaminating, it is in between the layers. I just used water and soft cloths on the inside.

Ammonia is harmful to tinted windows. It turns the tint different colors. Lots of older tint jobs look purple from the ammonia. Most window cleaners are ammonia free anymore. I am pretty sure cleaners with ammonia won’t hurt regular glass. I have used rubbing compound and polishing compound to clean glass in some old Scouts. In some extreme cases where replacement glass isn’t available (58 Chevy Del Ray windshield) I used a wet sanding sponge, extremely fine grain and very gently scrubbed some of the haze from the outside. After the wet sand sponge I use rubbing compound then wax. I use the cheap green tub turtle wax and rubbing compound for cleaning.
