I have a 1986 M1008 pickup.. When the motor is off, I can reach in and spin the fan with my hand. It seems to spin free. I it supposed to do this??? Or is something broken?

It is supposed to do that. It is a Thermal clutch fan. Normal. When it is cold you could start the engine and hold the fan and it will not spin. You could spin it backwards. Once up to temperature and as needed the fan will engage and coll the engine and radiator. Normal to spin freely.

Thanks! I never saw such a thing. I thought I was going to have to fix something.
