Refurbishing Data Plates

What is the best way to renew the black coating on these old plates ?
I'm wondering if screen printing would be effective ?
As an aside, note that the plate seems to be the old style with the tall 3/4 on the top line, and also that in the second line the stamped 1 in B1 appears to have been overstamped with a 2.

Ray, I like your Pawnee. Got a photo of the whole plane?

I want to refurbish the original plate, not replace it.
My ignorance is showing 😀
Can the graphics shops do that ?
.
Not really... Trying to print over the old metal would be a real drag.
It would require cleaning and in the end would be no better than starting with fresh metal.

I don't know if they can refurbish it. I just kept my original and put the new one on. If you want it to be original, it already is.

I have better than pictures of the Pawnee, I have video of me towing the US Air Force glider aerobatic team at Sun-N-Fun this year. Here's the play list: Click Here
