here it goes,

purchased the Deuce waited for the EUC and then ran into a brick wall as to how to get it home. not cost effective to ship and risky driving w/o registration. the SF-97 is weeks away and so i did a little hunting... here is what i got

my truck is a 71, so pre tittle and falls into the transferable registration category. (nothing new here)

to register the vehicle i need a sales receipt, old registration and drivers licence plus insurance.

in the event that the old registration cannot be found you must provide the old plate # to verify

in the event this isnt possible a signed form from the previous owner and picture, rubbing, or notarized document signed by a police officer is needed.

if that is not available form mv-51b needs to be filled out along with a copy of the bill of sale (invoice and auction page), photo of the vin..., and insurance, sales tax form and mv-88 (i think) application to register the vehicle. in the previous owner field i put the GL corporate info. under explanation for use of the 51b i put "was gov owned and never registered"

if its to be historic an extra document needs to be signed and also the insurance needs to specify "historic"

anyway thought it might be useful info. im now registered and insured. hahahahaha!!!!!!!:twisted:rofl

first DMV office was awesome, went to confirm my paperwork before i got it insured, first lady i talked to said "my neighbor has one" i **** near hit the floor. talk about luck. the second office which was closer to home told me i needed DOT numbers ect... i promptly drove the 45min back to the last and walked out bank accounts emptied and smile on my face.

Glad you got this figured out. It is not fun to encounter the maze that is NYS DMV and I had my share of problems with my deuce mostly because they had no idea how to deal with the situation.

Thanks for sharing

I have heard from other members of DMV offices that are MV friendly and will be sure to use one of them the next time, even if I have to drive an hour or more. Thanks for the information DBURD!
