Replacing fuel pump on 264A5

Has anybody replaced the mechanical fuel pump on a 274A5 mule with an electric one? My mechanical pump went bad & it looks like it would be a pain to change so thinking about adding an electric one & bypassing the old one all together. Any advice would be appreciated!

It is kind of frustrating to get to, but it's better to put the correct one back on.

It is not that as difficult as it looks to replace the fuel pump. Using 1/4" drive sockets and universal joints and extensions I have been able to replace the fuel pump by removing the carburetor. You will need to modify wrenches or use a crows foot wrench to remove the fuel line(s) from the carburetor. Check the back issues of Military Vehicles magazine for the article on mule tools. There are also a bunch of other helpful articles on mule repairs. Another route to replace the fuel pump would be to remove the blower to gain access to the bolts holding the pump to the block. I did it about a year ago, it's EASY to do....
That being said, its time consuming with lots of pieces to take off and go back, but nothing about the procedure was hard
I think it took about an hour and a half from start to finish

Everybody thinks I'm crazy, but I take a little more time and remove the blower and the blower mount, and then you are right at the bottom of the pump and the mounting bolts are easy to get to with a 6" 1/4" drive extension.
