Changed the column on my 86 M1009, now I have no reverse or backup lights. Was told its the switch on bottom upper side of column that doubles as neutral switch. Is this correct? How would I go about adjusting this? Anyone had this experience?

The switch is inside the cab, on the steering column just before it hits the firewall. Haven't done it but the procedure is something like this:
1. Connect lead to back-up light switch.
2. Aline actuator on back-up light switch with hole in shift tube.
3. Position back-up light switch on cutout in lower part of steering column jacket.
4. Push down on front of back-up light switch. Snap 2 tangs on back-up light switch into
place on steering column jacket.
5. Adjust back-up light switch by moving transmission gearshift lever to “P“ (Park). Main
back-up light switch housing and back-up light switch housing back should make a clicking
noise, providing proper adjustment.

I was about to follow these procedures but when I finally found the switch, it was un hooked and the wire was taped up. Hooked it up and it worked. I guess some people don't like lights.....

FYI it is from the TM 9-2320-289-20 manual page 4-41
