Reverse pivot bolt

Hi, I’m new here thanks to my mistake of removing the reverse pivot bolt on my M151A1. Is this a straight forward fix by taking the shift tower off and realigning the hole or is there anything else I should know?

I wish I knew myself. On mine the bolt runs into something when I thread it in, probably the pivot arm that dropped. If you reach a finger in you could maybe feel the hole in the pivot arm if it didn’t drop. I am going to take off the top of the transmission and fish the arm out of mine and try to get it back in position. Hopefully his weekend

I almost never come to the 151 section here on SS. But the reverse idle shaft will drop to the bottom of the transmission 90% of the time when this happens. The best thing to do is to go fishing with a magnet on a wand but stronger is not better because you are working down inside of a cast iron case surrounded by steel gears. A really strong magnet will just keep sticking to the gears and case before getting to the shaft. Once you get it patience is the name of the game, if you rush you will drop it and start all over.

Thanks for the input. I got mine fixed.
here’s how:
Remove starter. Make sure it’s in neutral and pull the shift tower. Fish out the reverse pivot. The reverse gear is under the top shaft of gears. You can see the slot in the reverse gear if you put your head under the steering wheel. Then you can engage the pivot lever in the slot of reverse gear and hold the lever while you insert the pivot bolt. Then put shift tower back on making sure the shift forks go into the slots. Not a bad fix really.
