Shift Kit in M1008?

I was just wondering if anyone has installed a shift kit in their CUCV, and if so what brand, was it easy, and how do you like it? I ordered a B&M deep sump transmission pan for my truck last night, and was thinking that if I am taking the pan off, I might as well put in a shift improver kit. Just wondering what other people's experiences have been.

sure I would install a B&M RV shift kit. also use the adjustable valve on the side of the trans. also B&M to set your shift points.
+1, have always had good luck with B&M kits in my TH400's, TH350's

I would suggest making sure the trans operates correctly before trying to modify it. Once you have verified it is in good working order, it is very important to keep everything clean.
I have been a trans specialist for decades and can tell you that brake cleaner and compressed air are your freinds. Shift kits are fairly easy to install as long as you follow directions and keep everything clean. To hold the check balls in place use COLD Vasaline or a product called Transjel.

Well, it's done! Last night I pulled the truck into the garage, and dropped the pan. everything looked good inside, nice and clean, no gunk. The B&M Transpak was fairly easy to install, and the directions were pretty straight forward. The only problem I ran into was that I didn't have a pair of snap ring pliers (or couldn't find them), so after a trip to the local autoparts store (1900 hrs on a saturday night, not much else was open), I got the snap ring out...Putting the darned thing back in...well, that was a trick. If anyone is interested, make sure you have a LONG pair of snap ring pliers, the only model they had at autozone were the short interchangable kind. It took a little longer than I had planned, but I also took time out to run to the store, and have dinner with the family. While I was at it, I also installed a cast aluminumB&M deep sump trans pan. I didn't realize that these trucks already have a deep pan on them when I ordered the new one, but the cast aluminum piece is cool looking, and it is said to lower temps, and add strenght to the transmission housing. I had a couple gift certificates from JC Whitney anyway! I need to go and get a couple more quarts of fluid, as I forgot to look up how much I needed before I went to the store, and ended up 1 qt short. The truck is coming along, so far, I have also replaced all the belts and hoses, fuel filter, and oil change. I am also in the middle of a WVO conversion (with pictures), and will soon fabricate a cold air intake (I have access to a fair amount of scrap aluminum, and a CNC router). with a little more overtime...4" lift and HMMWV rims and tires!!!

I'm interested too. Wondering if anyone has installed a full manual valve? I'm looking for the simplest truck to maintain as possible and figure eliminating the need for the modulator and governor would do (am I off base?)
