Any owners here, or at the least interested parties?

I'd like to get some idea as to how many there actually are in North America. I'll have the chance to buy one, but unless I can get spares with it...I'll probably pass. Never hurts to do some research though.

So.....anyone?

What spares are you in need of. I've got a bunch but at best you need to buy what you think you may need with the truck. Cheaper that way.

Also, as overbuilt and over-engineered as these things are I doubt you will break anything unless you really.....really get rough with it or the one you get is an absolute beater. For the most part, stuff like bushings, bearings, seals, UV joints, and gaskets are better off procured new in the U.S. Thats what I've been doing lately, making my own gaskets and replacing some of the old seals.
The stuff that was on there is nothing but paper and the seals are just single lip seals. My truck has less than 300km but these parts have deteriorated or dry rotted. If you get one yours will too and if its a rebuild no doubt it will be rebuilt with 50's-60's surplus parts which offer no improvment.
I've been using synthetic gasket material (blue stuff) and double lip Timken seals. Made a set of 12 rubber valve cover gaskets. The sucker doesn't drip a drop now so NO MORE DRIP PAN!:-D

Buy a nice low km unit (around $2000) and buy lots of modern sheet gasket material. Best improvment you can make :)

Thanks Ezfeed, makes me feel a bit better. I do know that the engine was assessed as toast, so the previous owner bought a take out. Of course, all of this is hearsay, dunno until I actually go scope it out. Maybe this weekend. Nice 53/59 you got there!

Wait? Is the one you are looking at in the U.S.A. already? If so I would not hesitate to snatch it up as long as it not too much. Give him $1400 for it and I can help you find another nice T-912-1 for it cheap.

I'd still be game if the engine is toast. First i'd be asking what he did to kill it....was it just a high mileage engine or did he do something to kill it. It takes allot to kill an engine that has fully supported mains and has roller bearings throughout. Allot of other things may be wrong too.

You can still get a nice one across the pond too. For about $3-4,000 shipped too.
