Smoked wire question

So a couple weeks ago I had some wires burn up on me. I changed some wires and everything looks good now, but my questions is why are there red wires that go to the 2 post terminal then change to blue last 3 inches? is that a fusable link?

I tried reading the manuals but I get a little lost when Im in there.

Reading them isn't too bad, creates crosseye though. It'll get better! And yes, as Westech said, it is a fusible link.
