New to the list, new to M35s, not new to MVs. Recovered a M35A2 W/W from the Sioux Falls Maintenance Facility. They used it as their rig in the shop. It's a 1970 with many upgrades (1997 LDT-465-1C, air shift xfer, new steering box, many others). This is one of the best maintained rigs I've come across. All the filters were pristine, gas tank is clean, all the fluids look new, freshly greased. I'll change the engine oil just to be safe. Tire rubber is excellent. It doesn't smoke, but I doesn't run as smooth as I think it should (might), but has plenty of power and starts on a dime. I've completely digested about 15 TMs and this should be a piece of cake. I have attached pics. First time EUC in 4 days, I was pleased. Overall, I consider myself pretty lucky.
I see CARNAC closed the VIN thread, was hoping he could open it back up so I could post all the info to confirm what year, manufac., etc. From looking at other VINs on the list and the door number, I am 99% sure I got everything right on the SF97 app. Luckily, the frame VIN matched all the GL paperwork.
I have extensively read a lot of threads and searched for my questions, but would would appreciate any comments (constructive) on the following:
1) there are small amounts of steam/smoke coming from the draft tube and I presume that's normal.
2) What is the correct TMs for the LDT-465-1C? I think they are TM 9-2815-210-34, but not sure. It doesn't list that exact engine number directly, just want to make sure.
3) I have a bell housing drip that leaves about a quarter size spot on the shop floor after running it for 20 to 30 miles. I'm going to let it go for now, but wanted to see if it's unreasonable to expect *no* leakage from the rear main. The drip sometimes looks clear so I need to better diagnose it as it may be gear oil.
4) Several threads say no input seal in the trans, several say yes. I don't see one in the TMs. Any comments?
5) Is there a TM for the mirror upgrade?
6) There's gear noise in the front of the engine and I don't have a feel for how loud it should be. Most threads say the LDT is real noisey so I don't know what to think. My experience base is International tractors and they are much quieter. I think it's a combination of compressor and gear noise.
7) It has what I call idle sag. After letting my foot off the accelerator, it sags to 500 rpms, then recovers immediately to 800 rpms. Normal?
8. I found several threads saying the plastic injector return lines are DOT air line, but can anyone be more specific? A NAPA part number would be most helpful. The ferrules are straight forward.
9) How hot should/can the transmission get?
Thanks for any answers.

PS GL was initially a pain to schedule for pickup, but they were very helpful on site (with a jump start and other things). A thank you to GL.
