Sparks on battery cable

I disconnect my battery cable when the 003 is just sitting around. I notice tiny sparks when connecting or disconnecting. The switch is set to "off". Is this normal? Would batteries go dead if i leave them hooked up? What would be pulling juice?

There are several capacitors in the system that cause sparking when connecting the cables. To find out if there's a parasitic load that could drain the battery slowly, you can turn everything off with the cables connected, then disconnect the battery's ground lead and reconnect it through an ammeter. It will read any load that's still there.
