Spin on filter conversion problem

Just finished another spin on filter conversion, and had a little problem. The first one I did I used an extra 7" filter/seperator I had on hand from my wmo setup and always had clearance issues when changing out. So this time I used the shortest filter/seperator I could find that would work with the 4770 base.

Using the Fuel Filter Comparason Chart I decided the 3414 would be perfect, since it was only 4.4" long. And according to the chart it works with the 4770 base.

When installing I noticed the gasket didn't seem to line up right with the base, like it was in the wrong place but figured I was just being to picky. Started cranking the truck and diesel pours out around the seal, or lack of.

So I dont know if I got a defective or mislabled filter, or the chart is wrong. Just wanted to share my story so others would know to watch for this. I am attaching the filter chart, a picture of the suspect filter, and a picture of one of my wmo filters with the correct gasket for this base.

Will be taking a trip to NAPA tomorrow to see if they will exchange a used filter.
