star on hood

the hmmwv i bought from fort jackson in south carolina had a star in the middle of the hood and on the tailgate,
i am just wondering what they meant? or who would have driven this hmmwv,it was real clean and not abused
it also had a radio tray and i can tell they took out alot of electronics

So, yes, all military vehicles are supposed to have a 5 point star on them... However, the TM that dictates that "Expired" a few years ago when I was in, and I have yet to see a replacement.

I had an Oilboard stencil for a 3" star that I bought from a place a number of years ago and would have a PVT on extra duty run around the motorpool if I found any vehicles that ever did not have it.
