I'm arguing with the guy rebuilding the starter he keeps putting 12 volt solenoid does it not have to be 24 v? Anyone know if anything I can print out.

If the starter has a 24v winding, it needs a 24v solenoid. It is either a 12v starter or a 24v starter. Sounds like it is time to find a new repair shop.

Here is a Delco Remy document. It states the starter can come is a 12v or 24v model. While this document is for the 28MT gear reduction, the 27MT direct drive is simular.

What starter do you have? The older direct drive or the newer gear reduction?

Older direct drive, I believe your correct, time for a new shop. That probably is why the gen 2 light is staying on after the rebuild and multiple voltage regulators from them, incorrect parts!
