Ok, batteries won't charge have generator#2 light on tried jumping with my jeep then the terminal started smoking and one of the wires caught fire I yanked the key from the ignition and the motor was still turning over until the battery died. Later I tried jumping from the junction box on the inside passenger aside behind the passenger seat then I smelt electric burning. I towed it home charged both batteries and when I plugged them up the motor started turning mind you the keys were still in my pocket I pulled both alternators and the starter out tomorrow I will have all three bench tested my question is could it be the module under the dash. I've never had a vehicle that ran after the key was pulled I'm at a loss, thank you for any help you can give.

I repeat: DO NOT connect your batteries up until you replace the relay as
in the doghead mod which is in the CUCV helpfull hints.
Unless of course you want to burn up your truck.

That relay is stuck and routing power directly from the batteries to the solenoid/starter.
The ignition switch no longer plays a part in this.

Check the starter to ring gear engagement. Is it correct? It could be getting stuck out in the ring gear. It may need a shim between the starter and the mounting boss on the block. It could also be a 12 starter or starter solenoid. Also the DH relay can fail. I see Fords do it all the time. Ever see a guy beat a relay with a hammer on a Ford. That is why I never do the DH mod. Nothing is fool proof if something else can go wrong. Double check and triple check all the fusible links and correct everything and get the starter looked at by a competent shop. You tube is not am competent lesson in starter rebuilding. There is more to a starter then that. Please report back. I am trying to help.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to me.

batteries were weak, voltage drop led to high amp draw by the starter, the starter solenoid contact plate welded on from arcing. This would also have killed your alternators and burned a few fusible links. I had to rebuild both alts and the starter, replace the batteries and battery cables and 3 fusible links.

It could be wires melted together now , it very well could have been cause by the relay under the dash . Pulling the battery cable would have been the best thing to do when it kept cranking. Look at the Doghead starter rely mod thread.

Can you explain this in detail, using proper punctuation so it makes sense? You connected 12v red from your jeep to....?
