BASIC ISSUE and TROOP INSTALLED ITEMS
Some things are readily available, like the 5-ton snatch block (3940-105-9933) and 5/8" 16 ft chain with grab hook and pear shaped coupling (4010-473-6166).

2009 0325 whinch hook and chain, 5-ton snatch block.jpg2009 0406 16ft chain w grab hook and coupling link.jpg

Other things were not so easy to find, like the tire chains (2540-933-6937), which I ended up putting together from 1100-20 chains. Specifications from pictures in the TMs and specifications based on FSNs.

Configured for the Pershing 1A , the xm757 was equipped with a 10KW MEP023A 400Hz genset.
I had a MEP18A mounted on the dromedary platform for several years until the generator head failed. This is what it looked like at the time (compare vintage image).

FORDING THE XM757 SIR!

pressurization off.jpg pressurization on.jpg

Pressurize "components" with the flip of a switch, wait a few minutes and the truck is fording ready.

It's "fording ready" because of design features like sealed brake drums,
2007 0709 sealed brake drums, steering linkage, front axles.jpg
pressurized engine, transmission and axle housings. Compressor gets air from the main air intake, engine breather tube joins the exhaust pipe and battery box within the cab out of reach of water at any level.

The fan belt is separate from the generator drive belts and is designed to slip under water and so does not effect power generation.

XM757 HEATING AND DEFROSTING SYSTEMS

Heaters for crew compartment, defrosting and engine are entirely separate and fuel burning, so that the engine does not have to run for the heaters to be operational.

Benmar crew compartment heater, including defrosting.

Also, since the starting battery has low capacitance (about 30 AH), a separate "house battery" provides power for all other 28VDC installations, including radio and the heaters.

The second air intake "mushroom" seen in the picture is for the crew compartment heater.
All batteries are Nicad vented cell type.

Oh yeah forgot to mention that this is the only mule that I know of that has made laps at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Yes you read that right. It wasn't fast but it did it. I was drafting off the Hummer in front of me which helped. C'mon nascar fans vote MULE!20140525_130732.jpg20140525_151037.jpg
