strange splash guard brackets

My M35A3C has them too... They are mounted on the front side like tcruwithme's are. The round part feels like its hollow (cup-shaped). Just what we need... Another M105 square hole-style mystery! Hope this one gets solved!

What's really annoying is the parts books do not even mention anything close to these brackets ! So far we know it's only on M35A2C or newer A3C . Most appear to be Air Force units. Where's "emmando" when you need him ?

Double checked my '87 A2C that was delivered last month, it is equipped with the brackets. My bud's A3 has them also, however they were reversed as not being utilized. Still looking through the manuals.....
