Suggestions for straightening battery box latches

Both of my latches on my M939 battery box were bent so it won't latch anymore. They are really stout, and I can't bend them back with anything I've tried for pliers. I don't really want to drill the pin to remove and put in a vice and beat with a BFH, but I think that might do it. Anyone tackle this before?

Post up a picture/s so we can 'fathom out' a fix for you, because, without a picture, I for one (can't visualize) and, haven't a clue what to suggest by way of a 'trick', method, or tool you might use for the 'fix'.

All I did was place the shank of a large screwdriver in the area that I needed bent/re-arched and tapped it with a hammer to reset the spring tension.
