Th400 filter mount wobble?

I'm changing the filter on the Th400 in my M1009 & when I pulled the old filter off, I noticed it wasn't mounted tight...?

Everything is cleaned up & ready to go back together, but even with the screw fully seated & the spacer above the filter, there's a good 1/4" or even 3/8" between the head of the filter bolt & the filter itself. I don't see an obvious bolt broken off up in there.

Maybe this is by design, but it sure seems odd to me! So, is this an oddity or is something amiss?

No problem thats the way it is supposed to be The pan actually snugs up to it and keeps it from falling out.

Its supposed to move so it doesn't suck air when you drive at an angle and the fluid sloshes back and forth. Lets it follow the fluid.
