That New HMMWV Smell

Am I weird in that I like the smell inside our HMMWV?

I told my wife it's that new HMMWV smell and she said the HMMWV was not new.

I vacuumed inside the HMMWV for the first time yesterday and I even removed the military issue pine cones. I was afraid I would be washing away that new HMMWV smell so I asked my wife to take a whiff and tell me if I removed the smell by cleaning it and she said nope, still smells like Humvee. :)

@KKroger - Good one!
I see the cables I'm looking for :)
@Cybul - Are you serious? Which cables are you looking for? I am trying to remove all the radio related cables from the bed to make it more dog friendly back there. I have already removed the rear radio tray and speaker in the above photo in case anyone is interested. The reason the cables are still in there is bacuase I have not been able to remove that channel that the cables go under because the 5/16 allen bolts are stuck and I don't want to strip them.

I will probably also be removing some of the front tray but not sure what yet. I have an amateur radio license and plan to mount some civilian HAM radio in there eventually so the main tray might be handy for that.

Yes. I cleaned mine once too. I imagine if you scrub it and paint it the magic leaves.
@mrfarb - Understandable. We certainly need some exterior paint as some on the rear quarter panels is flaking off and we see bare aluminum. We don't have any plans fully developed for our HMMWV yet other than getting it on the road and reasonably relliable.
