I tried to open the page in Firefox and got several warnings, after checking around and googling on that site, also the warning:

What is the current listing status for projectboats.com?
Site is listed as suspicious - visiting this web site may harm your computer.
Part of this site was listed for suspicious activity 9 time(s) over the past 90 days.
So, if you want please open the site at your discretion and chances are nothing will happen. But PLEASE

keep your anti-virus program AND anti-malware program (malbytes.com AND ad-aware or spybot search and destroy) active and up to date at all times.

Set your browser to "no sites are allowed to install anything without permission". And if you are still using the older Windows explorer (IE 6 or earlier), please update to later versions or - even better - change to Firefox.

While you are drooling over a nice submarine, these guys me hit you underwater without you ever knowing it and tap all you data or hack your computer and start sending emails and spam from it (Something like this happened a few days ago to another SS member).

If you already checked this pages, start your computer in safe mode and run all your anti-virus and anti-malware programs. Might waste an hour or so, but at least you know your computer is safe and clean.

***and with my paranoia I did not get to see the submarines either $#$%^%#

Norton used to be good, but ended up like Vista: too big and resource-draining and not working properly. With a non-profit working with students and volunteers (using IE for youtube, porno and other stuff you don't want to know), we had to have good stuff. AVG is good but Nod32 Business seems the best bet for us. Not freeware, but not expensive either (beats having someone reinstalling your computer hands-down).

With Pegasus mail for emails (freeware) and Malwarebytes and Ad-aware (Lavasoft, both freeware) running and occasionally manually checking as well, we normally have zero problems. Against somebody clicking a link in the wrong email despite programs saying it is spam and might be a virus as well nothing helps but even that was solved quickly.

Same here, motorolanut. I heard from a respected source in the computer security community that over half of the viruses and malware out there is WRITTEN by McAfee and Norton, in order for them to sell the solutions. Plus, I don't like their programs much anyways. I got ESET Smart Security - 2 years so far and it's fantastic.

Back to the original subject...was this sub originally a missile carrier? I remember the guys on a Detroit morning radio show talking to some Russian guy on the phone about 15 years ago who wanted to tow it to the States and make a restaurant out of it or something like that.

ultimate MV?

I recently read that the "whiskey class" russian sub was a copied design from captured German WWII subs.....It was a fairly light sub at apx 1100 tons...some were modified to carry cruise missles in addition to torpedoes.....kinda disturbing that the chicom navy is investing in fairly quiet diesel subs while the USA is mothballing most of its anti-sub fleet....
