I would like to get an idea what in fairly accurate terms is the MAXIMUM time the glow plugs are powered on a working system on a really cold engine.
THANKS!

If mine is not plugged in and has been sitting all night long in 0° to 20° weather my glow plugs usually run for 10 to 12 seconds. Very rarely I will see 15 seconds. If it is plugged in I have to crank it over once then let the glow plugs cycle. The warm coolant from the heater makes the temp sensor think it’s warm so the glow plugs only cycle for a second. Cranks it over a for a second then cycle the ignition again the glow plugs light up.
