I am going to replace my timing chain soon, but was wondering if anybody has done this and felt a big difference in the way your truck runs. I am trying to be hopeful, but as of right now there aren't any serious problems. I do not have that much power, hard shifts, and smoking out of the left bank. When i advance my pump timing my shifts get softer, alittle more power, but it's WAY advanced.

I just want to see what others have experienced from this.

Unless another manufacturer has picked it up, the 6.2 gear drives are no longer available. Pete Jackson was making all of them for DSG (Phazer), Kennedy, Heath, SS Diesel, etc, and they stopped producing them. Bill Heath told me he could no longer get them, from any manufacturer.

UPDATE::
I found the timing gear on crankshaft had broke half moon key off flush allowing gear to spin on shaft as well... now I have to figure out what caused this? possible crankshaft walk??? cracked main cap??? what??? anybody saw this before?

timing gear

checked on latest gear drive availability at 6-5liter.com where i previously found for sale. apparently they no longer recomend because it transfers harmonic vibrations to the valve train. they now recomend keeping the chain.

must have had valve issues when using them.

I got my timing chain set from auto zone or it might have been O'Reilly, can't remember. O'Reilly typically has more parts actually int thier store though whereas autozone has to order them (usually arrive the next day) from their warehouse.
