Here is a good rule of thumb (usually accurate within an inch or so)

9.00x20: 9" sidewall (bottom) + 20" rim + 9" sidewall (top) = 38"
11.00x20: 11" + 20" + 11" = 42"
14.00x20: 14" + 20" + 14" = 48"

M1075 has it really close. Close enough for GOVT work! None are ever exact!

its funny cuz some of the listing i have seen list 9.00s at 40 and 11.00s at 43 but everywhere lists 14.00s at 48a tape measure says your method is correct but this doesnt hold true on half size tires like 12.5s or 15.5s

for those tires you have to do the same thing then divide it by the aspect ratio os for a 15.5 80r20 it would be 15.5+20+15.5 divided by.80 =47
