Aloha from Oregon!

I’m Kimo, and I’m the caretaker of a 1983 Dodge M886 Military Ambulance — affectionately called RamboAmbo — — that I’ve been restoring and upgrading for over 10 years. When I first got her, the rust was everywhere, so I went all-in with the POR-15 process. Ten years later it’s held up great… except for a roof seam that’s just starting to show rust again. The truck’s specs: • Dana 60 front / Dana 70 rear (both locked) • Dually rear • 360 w/ ThermoQuad carb (debating installing EFI or continue save for Cummins 4BT swap) I’m keeping the original 4-patient ambulance layout, but adding a solar-powered 12V camper system, inverter, lighting, and a convertible bed using the original litters.

Thanks for letting me join — looking forward to swapping knowledge and keeping these rigs alive.

Mahalo nui & blessings,

Kimo

@Mullaney on the other hand a sleepable ambulance would be a funny contrast to the fictional ambulance van driven by farrah and burt team in the comedy movie named 'cannonball run' (not sure how popular this movie might had used to be outside usa but mm..)

anyhow kimo cummins is one common choice but optionally feel free to think about toyota as well if you want to or not (they offer anything from 2.0l to 4.1l with or without turbo in the l-series and b-series range all already suitable for suv/pickup mounting)

Coming from HI Yota is all I knew 2.0 2.8 4.0 4, 5 or jz🤙🏽 But now I learning about these mopar and M886 I believe that would not honor both dodge our these military service vehicles, since they had those towing aircraft too. But I like your style
