tow bar weight question

What is the weight on a towbar used to tow M35's and 5ton tractors? I'm looking at purchasing one off Ebay with extendable legs. UPS has a cutoff at 150lbs and I'm wondering what the TRUE weight is of the complete unit?

I guess worse case I could take off the hinged leg and ship it seperate if the total weight is over 150# for the complete unit.

I think they are around 200 lbs and have to have the leg separated to be shipped.

Andy, I've shipped several complete medium towbars via UPS. Depending whether they have the MWO (strengthing kit) installed they will weigh in at 130 to 140 pounds. Good luck! Jim

Geez... thanks for telling me! After mucking around with one of those tow bars this weekend & busting my back, I now get to add insult to injury (literally) by knowing the approximate weight of one of these heffers...

Also, I would recommend Greyhound or other busline for shipping option - just slap a label on it & let it ride from your local bus depot to the recipients' depot. We used to ship car parts this way all the time - fenders, hoods, etc.; if it fits in the cargo hold, let it ride!
