Hey I have an m1009 that has had a crack in th tranny for a few weeks, but I have been keeping the level up on the tranny. Yeasterday it all of a sudden began acting up. It doesn't like to go into second and when it does it feels like your driving with the ebrake on. If it can get going fast enough to go into third it feels fine. Whats up with it? I am planning on putting it into a new case this weekend.

With the gear shifter. Manually put the shifter in first then into second and then third while accelerating normally. DO NOT OVER REV OR WHINED OUT THE RPMS BEFORE YOU SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. I have no idea what it would cost just to replace second gear. I would think if you are in it that far just do it all.

Does it seem weird that it would all of a sudden go out after not showing any signs of trouble? Also once it goes into second it feels like the brakes are on but after a few seconds of pedal to the floor it will start to go normally. Is this strange or common for a dead gear.

Advance auto wants 650 for a remanu TH400. If you replace it make sure to do the gasket between the trans and transf case, cheap insurance since its already out.
