Tough question. Its a roll of the dice on wether it runs or not. There are several sources in the world that sell them as take outs in the can for around $750. Is it in private hands? Maybe you can take some batteries and fuel and ground hop it right in the can before purchase. Make sure what you pay is expendable income just in case its junk.

Kevin, the canned engines often come with all the accessories, the starter, compressor, injection pump, turbo and alternator. Even if the engine turns out to be "junk", over a period of time those parts and engine componenents can get your money back.
The can alone is worth $250 or more.
I paid $250 for one a couple of years ago, but had to return the can, which was not part of the deal.

I have an opportunity to buy the above engines (in quantity). I can also get LDT-465's as well. Some of the engines are supposed to be freshly rebuilt by Tooele. All are in container and believed to run, can be started to test as well.

Ive seen good running motors in the can go for $500 several times. I think a fair price is between $500-750 tops for a good runner. Some people are smoking crack trying to sell them for $3000 a pop. GL has them pop up in quantity from time to time and they usually go for under $500 in unknown condition but complete with the can.

I'd say if it has low hours and run's your looking at about $1k EA if it's been rebuilt and it's in the can I'd go $2k,
Yes some times you can get a good runner for $500-750 but most of the time they go for more.

Hmmm, $500 an engine. Says they are all non turbo! Might be wholesale to him but thats a sonewhat steep price for an untested engine!
