A small contigent of CAMO will take Proud American Guntruck, the FAV Gunjeep, M718 Ambulance and the M114 to Manchester, GA tomorrow 5 Nov to participate in their Veterans Parade. We will link up with some other members who are bringing their MVs straight there.

Hope to post some pics tomorrow night.:D

Next Saturday, 12 November we will participate in the Veterans Parade here in Columbus. We have 12 vehicles registered from CAMO and there are usually a few more.:D:D

Hartford, CT Parade Sunday 11/6. So far, COMVEC has about 4 vehicles. The storm of last weekend will likely result in a smaller than normal turnout of MVs.

Kansas Veterans day

Well from all the VETERANS DAY posts popping up, I guess I am one of the few to add to your tread. This one was in Ottawa Kansas yesterday. They also have a Civil war and WWII reenactment with living military history. Vietnam Vets serves a free lunch for all in the parade or display. Got 2 more coming up on the 11th, Olathe and Leavenworth Ks. 2 of my buddies jeeps craped out so I towed them both behind the CUCV , the 1st is a WWII MBT with the rare GI tandem mount the 2nd is a 52 M100. The towed piece is made out of a M105 axle and junk GBOOTH had laying around his shop, it is the best dummy I have ever seen!

San Angelo TX Veterans Parade

Due to the uploading limits here, I'm posting this link to my PhotoBucket Page with the 61 Parade pics....

2011 11 05 Veterans Parade San Angelo TX pictures by jebariou - Photobucket

Enjoy!

We had a GRAND time. The various veterans who rode were from the Combat Veterans Outreach Ministry (hosted by our church) and assorted Veterans currently attending Angelo State University (ASU) here in San Angelo.

We also had the ASU Homecomeing King and Queen riding an accompanying Mustang and an ASU POLICE escort as part of our "combined unit" in the parade.

Everyone had a blast ! ! !

Hartford, CT Parade was a good weather day, sunny and warmish. Turnout could have been better but considering there are still about 100,000 customers (which means many more people than that) without power after last weekend's storm, it's understandable. COMVEC members brought 10 MV,s First parade for my M37 and I had a WW2 POW for a rider.

We (Lone Star MVPA) do a military vehicle and equipment display for a local school district each year right before Veterans Day. The school does it right before so the kids have a better idea of what they are honouring on Veterans Day proper. We did ours yesterday.
Being Texas, the first time we did this the school asked "What kind of weapons will y'all bring to show us?". :-D

We have been having the worst drought in 50 years in Texas, but it decided to break temporarily while we were driving over Sunday, lasted all the way through putting the vehicles up last night, then it stopped! I never cuss rain around here, but...
Oh well, I've been wet many times before and haven't dissolved yet.

We did have some no-show vehicles because of the weather, but still had a creditable display.

Fortunately we had big gaps between showers (short term torrents might be a more appropriate term!), and no lightning, so the kids could all come through the display. We had to set up in a parking lot instead of the grass because of mud issues, so no big camo nets again this year.

The Confederate Air Force (substitute the new politically correct name yourself here, if you choose to) promised to do a flyover with 12 aircraft, we got 14! [thumbzup] Despite the wind and low cloud, they made 8 passes over the schools and the kids loved it. They were all outside to watch.

Final count was 583 kids run through the display, not counting the ones who came back after school with parents, and from other schools.
Rain or not, it is fun and worthwhile.

Cheers

1- Reloader64's Deuce
2- Pawnshop's M1028/M101
3- M37
4, 5, 6- My M1009/M416, ugly M185A3, and V100
7- The V in its raincoat for the heavy showers
8- Gear display
9- Kids getting in the Deuce (No, they are not mutants, I obscure their faces in the photos)

My aeroplane pictures are too poor to bother with, but they included a P-51, B-25, PBJ (Marine version of the B-25, not the sandwich), and four T-6's.

Cheers

1- Overview. Teaching about camouflage on the right.
2- Mitch uses the M185 as a backdrop for his uniform and equipment talk to the kids. And yes, back by the M1009, my girlfriend's hair really is that luminous red colour!
3- My youngest boy talking about 'his' V100
4- An intersesting mod to an M37! (A Sagger training round I picked up some years ago).
5- Not an MV, but the '66 VW one of the guys drove to the display in. Too cute not to show it.

Hot Springs Arkansas Veteran's Day Parade isn't until Friday 11/11/11. I'll post pictures some time next week since I won't have time this weekend.
