I recently installed a Vic-3 commo system in my deuce. The problem that I am having is about half the time it is on, the sound is crystal clear. But, the other half of the time it has alot of static and cuts out.

Here is what I have done to try to fix my issue,

1. I have checked all of the connections to insure tightness

2. I have checked the battery connection...it is tight and secure

3. I have checked the ground...it is secure and clean

I have this issue no matter if the truck is running or shut off.

Any commo guys have any insight.....it is starting to drive me crazy.

What kind of headsets are you running? The audio connectors on VIC-3
are very prone <as were there 5 pin cousins on the VIC-1's and 2's >to
getting a corrosion issue and acting just like you are describing.
Take a pencil eraser and scrub the contacts on the mating surfaces of the
6 pin audio connectors on the master control and on the crew box connectors
and post whether this has any effect on the problem. Be sure after cleaning
well with the eraser that you blow the residue out with some compressed air
and as an added measure get your self a can of electronics "contact cleaner"
and spray these connections after the cleaning. If this has no effect on your
problem post back up and I will give you the next thing I would check.

The headsets are brand new Gentex model 0633, headsets. These are new as in, I removed them from the plastic. And a CVC

The tag on the headsets reads

Headset-microphone
H-366/ VRC, 5965-01-385-7813

Iwill clean all of my connections and see what happens.

Sorry, I havent posted in a while. I did try to clean all of the connections but it did not help. I am assuming that I have a bad cable. I am not sure where to go from here so I am just trying to live with it for now.
