First find a place to have a rally, think large enough if a few people do come out. Also maybe somewhere people can stay the night, will make it more appealing for guys that would have to drive a few hours or more.

Then post up and make sure you go through with it, it will grow each year if you have fun.

Oh yeah, FREE is also great, more will show up. However if you look Haspin Rally costs($14 a night) and so does the Georgia Rally(not sure of the price) so FREE isn't mandatory.

The GA Rally started as a get together in one members back yard. The next year it was held at a state park but we had folks camping in a few different areas. The search for a better venue turned up Durhamtown Plantation where the rally has been held since 2008. It's turned into a pretty large event. Start with a cookout, folks will come.

Absolutely just have a cookout - it works. Just have some room for folks to park and meander around in.
Cookout stuff does not have to be extravagant either - just don't poison anyone.
From there you can choose to go whatever direction you wish (perferably after a couple years to get your numbers up).

For the cookout we hold in Springtime - I am happy with just a cookout and seeing friends after the cold is gone - to get ready for the parades and rallies ahead that year.

Just do it - as it was said in the Movie Field of Dreams - You build it - They will come. And never worry about the number of folks - always have fun with whomever wishes to come - they take over the life of the party anyhow.

We have started a small rally at the D-Day Adventure Park in Oklahoma. It is small but more people come each year. As stated above, a good location and getting the word out are key.
