Usually 3rd gear or Reverse only for such limp mode transmission - which are fast going away if they aren't already gone in the modern stuff. Not the case with the Allison anyhow and it's lack of ANY mechanical linkage. If there's no button pad and no ECM it won't unlock the crank circuit and if you bypass that you won't get it in gear either without pushing electrons into it's control solenoids because it defaults to neutral with no control signals.Some electric over hydraulic transmissions will operate (rough) on fluid pressure alone. I know this happens in a (computer controlled) 4l80 unit without computer input. I do not know if this is detrimental to the trans.
