Waste Oil in MEP802/3

Hey,

Does anyone here have experience burning waste oil in 802/3s? I'm looking to make about 150 gallons disappear, and just wondering if anyone had a negative outcome? I'm mostly worried about clogging the injector nozzles.

I'm aware that burning waste oil isn't exactly ideal, but older engines never seem bothered by it. Most of the farms I work with dump the tractor oil right back into the fuel pod.

Planning to filter and mix with at least 50% HHO. I don't anticipate a proper centrifuge setup anytime soon. Napkin math puts me at about a 1000 gallon break-even point, not counting my time. I need to build my garage before I start making black diesel in that quantity.

I just need the barrel empty to start filling it again.

I have done WMO in my Ford IDI. Check the Alternate Fuels forum.
For best results without a centerfuge:
5 gallon bucket. Pour in one gallon reg gasoline and 4 gallon WMO. Put a lid on it. wait 4-6 weeks. Pour off 4 gallons of good oil. Scrap the last gallon. The last gallon will have the sludge you don't want to put in your diesel engine.

Waste vegetable oil or waste engine oil? I wouldn't put the latter in an engine that I cared about. The ash content will come back to bite the engine (combustion chamber and injectors). There are some military documents, and there's this from the EPA;

Lots of ways to get from vegetable oil to reasonable diesel fuel if you are careful.

I've tried it briefly in several things, 803, my backhoe and log splitter, but as 2Pbfeet mentioned, I was worried about ash etc. , so although it worked I decided to save the "black diesel" for use in my steam cleaner. In the steam cleaner burner It is obvious that a smell difference in "gasoline content" makes a big difference in performance, a little too much gasoline and I had flames shooting 2' out of the stack, So perhaps a mistake in formulation could cause issues in a diesel engine.

Although i know of places that dumped their WMO back into the bulk fuel tanks, especially in the days when B-model and R-model mack's were the usual trucks "eating" it, I wouldn't use it. Not only because of ash, but because of increased injector wear from microscopic metal in the WMO .. One particular local trucking company burning it every day/night in the macks openly said it was worth it to them to have to replace injectors versus fuel cost

myself I have been burning a mix of WVO for almost 20 years in heavy equip, trucks, and the MEP's.. However, only when they are active every day or for a long period of time in a day .. Important to flush the system clean with straight diesel before they are shut down to sit for a week or more .. And since cold weather is an additional issue, I use two valve-selectable tanks per item, one with the mix, the other with straight diesel or FO
