My water in fuel light came on after using some diesel i had in a can. My light never came on ever untill using some old diesel that must have had some water in it. e Question 1 I see where the petcock is on the fuel filter housing. Are you suppose to drain the petcock while the m1009 is running or do i when its not running? Question 2 I drain out water untill i see diesel coming out, and how many times do i crack petcock to drain once, twice ? Question 3 after all water is drained out prime a new filter and replace , am i missing any steps as this is the first time i have to do this? I did put some diesel additive to remove water but it didnt seem to work because wif light still on? The m1009 does start and seem to run normal even with wif. comments and suggestions anyone? any help greatly appreciated. Thank You

It does sound correlated that you put suspect fuel in and then the light came on but could be a wiring issue too. It's running but only you can determine the amount you want to chase it or how much you want to risk being stranded (sounds cold where you are).

TM 9-2320-289-10 Page 3-4 2. ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT WILL NOT START has the procedure for bleeding the fuel system.

Usually using the petcocc and then clean or change the filter (with clean fuel in it topped up (and in the tank.)) will sort your problem light out. those sensors or very sensative to flow and pressure and cleanliness.
