Weatherstrip question (hardtop to body seal)

I'm going to order a Softopper soft top on my m1009. Right now, the hard top leaks where it seals to the body. When you install the new seals for the body/top, do they get put on the actual top or the body?

they stick to the top, so when you remove it they stay with the top.

Thanks. I just didn't want to buy new seals if since I believe the soft top will seal up differently. Thanks again for the info!
