I recently purchased an 83 suburban parts truck with an ATS turbo, gage cluster, tilt steering column, power windows and gearvendors overdrive that I will be swapping over to my m1028.

The front clip, radiator, hydroboost, and posibly 3/4 ton front 10bolt axle over to my 75 jimmy. Basicaly I will be stripping any and all usable/ sellable items from this truck.

Is there anywhere I can take the remaining carcass or anyone who would take it for some parts in exchange? I have (2) 6.2 diesels "the one in the burb is complete/ ac,starter, all acc." a good th400, np208, etc. etc.

How do you guys get rid off the miltary carcases?

I've always used them as a dumpster and filled them with other steel scraps untill full, then called the scrap man and they will pickup and pay you. Wayne

RE: scrap

Scrap is kind of high, If there are no usable parts, scrap it and try to get your $ back.

In CA, you're gonna need a junk slip unless you cut it up into small enough pieces that it can't be recognized as anything automotive.
My buddy just told me about a new FREE service called junkmycar.com, supposed to be nationwide. I guess you just make an appointment and they come get your car. Never used the service, just now heard about it.
Okay, just googled them and seems legit  Found another one too, junk-car.org

And then it off on a slow boat trip to China, that's the one with no EPA laws. Wayne

RE: overs

Ooooh...H2 rims...

For the usable parts a $25 membership fee over on www.ColoradoK5.com would allow you to post parts on their for sale forums. LOTS of folks on there with 73-87(91) GM's and many are in your neck of the woods.
Definitely a good place to find and sell stuff.
