What is the lowest temp your deuce started in

Nice video, militarysteel. It's supposed to be 5 above this Monday morning so I am going to try my deuce and see how it does. It'll be the coldest start I've tried.

I can get my duece started in lower 20's to the high teens. For cold starting i have a 3m stick on oil pan heater and this will let it lite at close to -40 without hitting the spray to get it to start. Not saying it is fun to drive that cold but if it has to run it will start.

Was 18 degrees (above zero) other morning and had to test the duece for starting.

Cranked about 10 seconds with no manifold heat (does not work) and fired right up!
That was with a 75% WMO mix in it.
Idled rough for short time then smoothed out.

Looking good................

As long as our batteries are up (have to clean the gounds for a better charge) and there's fuel in the tank (long embarrassing story), I have never heard the engine crank - just push the button and she starts running..... Lowest temp 18*, Highest temp 112*. Didn't drive it at that low temp, just had to "test" her ability to start when cold.... and she fired right up that time too!!! Idled for 20 minutes and shut her down.

BTW- Nice truck, and congrats on the easy recovery.

I see you're in Toms River NJ - Son, Daughter-in-law and two grandsons are in Neptune NJ. I was rasied in Kearny.

With two regular car batteries in the battery compartment and straight diesel in the tank, I flicked the heater on a few times and got the engine started on my third attempt. I waited about 15 seconds between each attempt. I watched oil pressure come up slowly and then let her idle at just under 10,000 to get her warmed up.

My deuce is being difficult to start this winter, but that probably has a lot more to do with the 10-15% gas blend in it than any problem with the engine or flame heater. I still need to check its compression in the spring, but even with the gasoline it would light up quickly around 40-50F. At freezing it sputters but won't catch. Any less than that I have to use the heater to get it to light, and even then it takes effort.

This amounts to one of several things....

1. Bragging; or
2. M35a7 - TurboFan Engine Equipped; or
3. A Deuce owner dead-set on SUICIDE for himself and self-destruction for his multifuel; or
4. A simply typo.

BTW -- Any Multi that can turn those RPM will do a bit more than just WARM UP :!:

Five below zero (-5), plug the block heater in for 3 hours (the kind in a freeze plug), full front end blanket, and it fires up in less than 2 seconds of the starter and purrs. I also use a Chargetek battery minder. I also did this last winter at 28 below zero and same results. I suppose I'm screwed if I don't have an outlet nearby...:wink:

Got mine to start when the temp dropped to about 15 here for two days, I always use the manifold heater anywhere under 32, just in case, I don't like Murphy, so I do all I can to keep him away 8)
