Both the winch hooks on my wrecker are missing the safety latches, what are they actually called and where can I get them? TIA

WW grainger sells some in the dayton brand. Dimensions are in their catalog and I imagine online also

You should be able to get them anywhere that sells rigging slings or cables. There's also a lot of sites online to buy rigging hooks, chains, cables, and parts if you could measure it and find the right specs.

Just had to add, by looking at the TM I easily found the item in question and it's NSN. A google search for that finds the "parttarget" link. In that there are 2 manufacturers of the item in need.

Crosby is an well known manufacturer of the part.

I don't believe I have ever seen a safety catch on the winch hooks(front or rear).
You could always look at the TM if you want to know for sure.
When the OP asked about the saftey catch, I figured he meant the hoist hook, since it is the only one(of 3) that has one.

Gotta love this site, learn something new everyday. I could swear I've seen them on many winch trucks on GL. What would be the reason for not including them on the winch hooks?
