Whistler / non-whistler?

What's the difference? I believe my Deuce has the non-whistler D engine...but I love that whistle (pulled the silencer ring and put a BHAF on our '05 Dodge Cummins). Is there a way to get a D engine to whistle?

Also, does anyone know what boost levels these engines make in stock trim, and if they can handle (or even like) more boost?

stock boost is 9 psi
