Hey... I feel for your friend!

We just had our Chieftain moved from Baltimore to Indiana... $15,500 for the move. It also is 62 tons... and roughly the same dimensions. Did you friend buy a Chieftain?

This tank at those dimensions is super weight, and over wide. It triggers literally every regulation. It will require escorts front and back, where applicable it will require law enforcement escort as well (Ohio for instance). A straight line may not work for the transport as well, because due to our decaying infrastructure there are many bridges that cannot be crossed.

You ONLY want to deal with real, specialized heavy haul. There are guys who may try to hotdog over width, and over weight under the cover of darkness (believe me I've had on do it, not at 61 tons, but at 38 tons) but it is not a good idea.

Please put be in contact with your friend should he have any questions or want to share info. I've built a pretty good network of armor owners here in the USA, especially for foreign armor. Good Luck!

Update on the travails of armor moving...

My Chieftain was "impounded" on the New Hampshire / PA border on Friday afternoon... Monday to sort out the details. Permits are having to be reissued.... and now my armor is sitting on the side of the road over the weekend.... tanks are fun... tanks are fun... LOL

Now from what Dave has said above, it cost $15,500 to move a vehicle of similar size, and that was roughly only 600 miles give or take, depending on where in California it is coming from and where in Ok it is going, it could be 15-1800 miles...plus California is close to the worst state in the country when it comes to overweight and over width

I'm paying €18.900,00 from the UK to Italia. PLUS escort fees and police escort for another €6.000,00. I can't see any way around it if I want it home.
